I had gotten an email response to my application for a "Head of" opportunity after applying to it a few days back. I got a response rather quickly and was scheduled a 30 minute call with the Head of Talent.
It was a pleasure speaking with him as he took the time to introduce the company to me, walked me through the products and ensured that I had all my high-level questions answered before starting to learn more. It was refreshing to know that they want everyone to understand the company more before diving into questions.
The conversation went over time but the recruiter was able to be mindful about it and asked me if I had a hard stop and he really understood the business. From my past experience, some more technical questions will always be push to the next round but I was able to get a lot of insights from my first call.
This was a pleasurable first interaction with a company and it really showed that they want to focus on people first. I was informed about the next steps and got a promptly email after my call to schedule a chat with the VP of Marketing.
Although after that conversation, I was shortly rejected... my sentiments stayed the same and it was nice to see that both conversations were welcoming, and I felt excited about this opportunity.
I am always going to be keeping my eyes opened for the next opportunity because they're doing something right!
