I applied on the later side (around March/April) and things moved very quickly. I had 1-2 phone screen/general work background phone calls with some minor technical questions about coding ideas and skills. The last step was a data science challenge analyzing tweet sentiments. This wasn't a topic that I had worked on before but I proposed a model with some reasonable results and they seemed to be more interested in how I was thinking about the problem and what I would do if I had more time. I was in Chicago and the company is in NY so everything was done over the phone.

I was contacted by a member of the data science team for a phone interview shortly after sending in my resume. During the interview, the guy spent most of the time talking about the company rather than asking questions about my experience or any technical questions.
