Ventajas

Remote work if you are not located near an office location. There are some truly great people who work for the company.

Desventajas

The company operates under a facade of caring about their employee’s well-being. There is an overarching badge of burnout at this company and you are looked at as a bad employee if you have any semblance of reasonable boundaries. I asked really targeted questions around work life balance during my interview process and was given the impression that this was something the company actually valued. While I appreciate working hard and producing the best outcomes, I also know that employees need to be able to truly unplug and disconnect from work to be able to perform at their best. The company rewards an ‘always on’ mentality. What they really expect from most employees is for them to be available 24/7. I routinely received slack messages during ‘off’ hours and was expected to reply to them. I was chastised for setting my slack to do not disturb on Christmas. I was contacted while on my scheduled PTO and asked to work on an ‘urgent issue’ and immediately drop what I was doing. I wish these were one-off scenarios, but the truth is this was the day-to-day experience of working at this company. The company operates under a false sense of priorities and doesn’t know how to differentiate an actual emergency from a routine complaint. The result is constantly putting out fires and spending a lot of time analyzing root causes which result in little to no tangible actions taken. There is a big emphasis on figuring out who to blame for a problem instead of holistically reviewing the problem/outcome and implementing lasting solutions. The executive team often speak to employees in inappropriate, demeaning, and borderline abusive ways. It’s a really disappointing work environment and not conducive for employees. The company is constantly focused on releasing new products and does not spend the necessary time to actually fix existing core functionality. The result is a product with a lot of bugs/glitches and a lot of bandaid fixes deployed by engineering. The company doesn’t reward employees for hard work during review cycles and doesn’t give tangible bonuses/raises. This is despite growing in valuation and revenue which is constantly talked about in all-hands. It didn’t take long for me to realize I had made a critical error in judgment by joining this company.

Ventajas

High-caliber team, product managers who listen to customer feedback, amazing leadership, compelling work. Great fit for accountants who want to interact with customers in a scalable function instead of living in spreadsheets and dealing with dated technology and processes.

Desventajas

Expectations are high, but training and enablement set you up for success. "Make it happen" mentality required. The plane is definitely being built while it's in the air, so patience and proactive communication with the product team is essential, but things are constantly improved as a direct result of clear, constructive, public feedback.

Ventajas
