During my tenure at RPI, my experience underwent a transformation from initial enthusiasm to a more nuanced perspective. At first, I was impressed with RPIs commitment to fostering a culture that prioritized learning, questioning, and the establishing meaningful relationships, irrespective of hierarchical distinctions. RPI servers as an excellent launching point for recent college graduates, offering valuable opportunities for professional development. However, it is not a sustainable long-term career location. This stems from a multitude of factors, the most obvious being RPIs continued mass-layoffs, or the personal choice to depart for the preservation of one's mental well-being, or to seek more competitive compensation, as substantive salary increases here are infrequent (RPI is nowhere near competitive, and they know it). Initially, the social events and gatherings, such as boat outings and holiday parties added a sense of enjoyment. Nevertheless, over time, it became increasingly apparent that some of these activities may have been primarily organized for the benefit of leadership, serving as opportunities to buy but write-off as a business expense.

Desventajas

To reiterate, in my early stages of employment at RPI, the organization originally projected an image of supportiveness, encouraged continuous learning, valued individuals who questioned the status quo and those who established professional relationships despite hierarchy. The con here is that is not comprehensively true. Expanding on this observation: Question the client, never leadership or your salary. Additionally, the pursuit of knowledge is largely self-directed, primarily relying on video-based resources and a personal time investment (because otherwise you are not billing). And the original perception of supportiveness directly correlates to later feelings of micromanagement and inadvertently fosters feelings of internal resentment. Another noteworthy concern is the company's practice of persistently solicitating employees to write favorable Glassdoor reviews or increase favorable RPI interaction on platforms like Linkedin, especially targeting new-hires who may not have yet had a comprehensive exposure to the company's operations, both positive and negative.
