Ventajas

You can make your own hours, work as hard as you want, promote yourself through your efforts and not because you know someone. You can learn as much as you want, take classes and practice as much as you want on your own. You are truly the master of your own course with this company. I could go on but there is not enough time in the day or room on this review.

Desventajas

When the work comes in, it is busy, but when the slow times of late February and March come, then you may not get many hours, or you may get hours where there is nothing to do but study and do practice clients, you need to keep busy and be positive because those who are on commission are bitter and short tempered and this is not the best time to ask them for help. At the same time, this is the best time to improve your skills because the end of April is coming and if you don't want to be run over with new requests, you better be taking practice clients each and every day.

Ventajas

H&R Block provides thorough training, and employees should expect to study continuously throughout the season. The training is valuable and helps build a strong understanding of tax preparation. There are opportunities to "level up," and advancing through the certification levels can lead to higher pay over time. Management is approachable and readily available when assistance is needed.

Desventajas

The position is seasonal, and the starting pay is $12 per hour. During peak tax season, employees may work very long hours—sometimes up to 10 hours a day, 6 to 7 days a week—which can be physically and mentally exhausting. In my first month, I also found that some of the staff were not especially welcoming, which made the initial adjustment more challenging.
