Ventajas

I have been with ECI for over 6 years. However, I have been a software developer for almost 40 years. I have been at large companies and small companies. All with pros and cons. ECI has several strengths, the largest of which is its ability to win new contracts. ECI does a lot of government contracts and the owners have built relationships and know how to win contracts. Because of this, there is always new and interesting work coming in. There are both C# and Java groups, and even some C++ work. Wherever your interests lie, there are avenues to pursue. In the time that I have been with ECI the company has grown from around 40 people to 120+ people. There are many talented people at ECI that are a pleasure to work with. One last thing, the reason we continue to grow is that we have a very good reputation with our customers. ECI has 23 years in business and still growing

Desventajas

As odd as it sounds, the growth of ECI can be challenging at times. Developers are in high demand and while ECI does a good job of hiring people in, ECI seems to be winning work faster than we can bring new developers on. At times developers have to move from one project to another. This can be demanding for both the developers and the Product Owner’s and PM’s. The good thing is that ECI continues to move forward and deliver solid products on time and on schedule.

Ventajas

Few of the people working there are nice and cool to get along with.

Desventajas

Let's see. - Don't ever get accidentally get sick. I accidentally got shingles and swimmer's ear at the same time, and then magically minutes later management decided to demand I sign a new employee agreement (2 year non-compete), and then days later "laid me off." Woo wee. - Don't expect the useless middle managers to care about you at all. They've spent over a decade there wasting away and being mediocre, they'll skip dang near every single one of your one on one meetings where they are supposed to "mentor" you. - Don't expect any of the "senior" level devs to care about you, they won't. They won't give you the slightest chance despite how much you indicate that you care and want to help grow the business. - Don't expect management to know you exist. In fact, expect them to stand RIGHT OUTSIDE THE DOOR when they are onboarding you and ask someone else in a not-so-hushed tone "what's their name again? i forget" so that they make it clear to you, indirectly, that you mean nothing to them. - Don't expect management to be liars. At all. In fact, when they are onboarding you, they will make it clear, over and over and over again that they are absolutely never ever ever ever ever liars. At all. Ever.
