Would I be comfortable writing code snippets?

Absolutely.  Previously in my career I was a developer.  I no longer want to spend all my time writing code (and haven't spent the majority of my time doing that for a long time), but I'd definitely be comfortable doing what was described.

It's essential to demonstrate that you can really go deep... there are plenty of followup questions and (sometimes tangential) angles to explore.
