Ventajas

State Farm has good benefits and good people. There is an extensive training program.
Desventajas
The metrics are unbearable. State Farm is losing customers and great employees because of the micromanagement of each call. Average handle time is recorded daily and "coached" in front of the team on a daily basis if not met. It's nearly impossible to give the quality of customer service that State Farm customers need and deserve during a claim call during the time allotted to do so. The stress and the constant "coaching" is driving good employees away.

Work from home. Bonus opportunity if you, your team, and the company meet goals. Good amount of time off.
Desventajas
Poor training. We were not provided with a lot of help in terms of dealing with difficult customer interactions. Health insurance was very expensive. Over $150 in premiums for a non-smoking, single person. Pension was taken away by the current CEO, Michael Tipsord, in 2020 to reduce costs for State Farm. He also reduced the PTO maximum accrual, which prevented new hires from ever earning what older employees were able to receive.

Pay is livable and benefits are okay.
Desventajas
Training was terrible and did not prepare you to be on the floor. Consisted of mostly modules. Managers are unprofessional never are available to assist you with claims. They rarely show up to work. You are highly micromanaged and all your performance reviews are public knowledge. The amount of work you do is put on display and actively compared to your co-workers. Very toxic environment. They use vernit system to set your work schedule for the day. It constantly changes and you are graded on how well you follow a ever changing work schedule. Mined updated 11 times today alone. You are working in a team claim environment, there is no claim ownership which causes complete chaos for everyone involved. Very frustrating for the customers and claims adjusters because no one ever knows what's going on in claim since a new person looks at every time a customer calls. You have to BID to use your PTO six months in advance. First come first serve. So even though you have PTO you can rarely can use it. Not worth the stress look elsewhere!

bonus, the credit union that provides loans, and pto hours
Desventajas
They require you to do mandatory OT as they are SUPER behind on claims. Call center environment with non-stop calls. The company is very disorganized and the micromanagement is ridiculous. Managers don't care how hard-working of an employee you are. You are nothing but a number to State Farm that answers calls for them. They will tell you what you are doing wrong before they even commend you for your accomplishments. They provide a lot of OT hours but they have a shift bid every couple of months where you are required to enter your PTO request months in advance. We had one in July 2023 for the months of Jan through March 2024! So you're pretty much planning your life around State Farm. The pay also sucks. They are one of the lowest-paying insurance companies. They will also start you at the base salary no matter how many years of experience you have and will not negotiate. The amount of reviews alone lets you know how high the turnover rate is! They are always hiring because people are always leaving! It's also super hard to get promoted as everyone is trying to get out of their departments so you're a small fish in a huge pond. There is also favoritism. I recommend that you get your experience and go! They are the easiest company to get hired by since they are so desperate for help

I would not recommend it at all - a place of abuse and exploitation
Desventajas
Company backs up its abusive managers. When I complained about their manager who called me on skype and scolded me like a child,. It was a very traumatizing experience for me. when I complained to his manager 3 times, I got retaliated against. The retaliation took many forms: I got blacklisted, held back and was given higher volume of phone calls in my whole team 128 calls Vs 30 for their favorites. I was given a low evaluation without any justification/ My performance was good . They took away my new Hire retention payment that I got after being hired, lost 1/2 of my year end bonus, I was passed up for a raise and when I sent an official complaint to HR, they gave me 25 cents raise, a slap on the face. after over a year and a half of hard work, under high levels of stress and pressure to answer tons of phone calls and produce 10 claims per hour, I make $19.75 per hour. State Farm is a very secretive company. They hide their HR contact info. There is only chat or phone. They hide their email and address. They conduct things verbally to avoid any trails or proof. I had to google their corporate office to send in a complaint. State Farm use their own employees to train each other. Everyone gives you a different version. By the end of the 4 months training, you have tons of confusing information that you have to put together and try to make sense of like a puzzle.

Ventajas
Job Security Great Benefits Decent Pay Room for growth 26 days PTO
Desventajas
Overworked as there are way too many tasks to complete for the current workforce. Apply yearly raises before the cost of living adjustment so can be difficult to get away from the minimum earnings and you could be there 5 years and have a new person off the street come in making close to what you make. Merit isn't enough to advance in the company. You're expected to collect insurance designations even if they're irrelevant to the work you do. PTO gets hard to use since it is customer facing and there are limited time available per day.

Ventajas
Paid to get insurance license on first test attempt. . Quotas are almost non existent/ east to hit. Weekends off. All training was done by a different State Farm agent Joseph Blangin and he gave great training for beginners in the industry/ pleasant and likable guy.
Desventajas
Consistent pressure to sell with only 10-15 leads a day. The leads were very bad and you were set up for failure if you didn’t have a big list of friends and family to quote/sign up. They only give 45 minute break and they strongly preferred you be in at 8:45 or earlier. You also work every single holiday and you need to commute into the office everyday. She has a very big book of business and on top of pressure to sell, you will spend many days just doing customer service work for current customers. Low pay, and the commission is not worth it in my opinion. You split everything 50/50 with Suzette. For every new sale you get 5% commission and Suzette gets the other 5%. Suzette relies on a different agent to run her business and is very disconnected from what is going on. The commission is backdated 2 months and they make you sign a contract saying you forfeit all commission earned if you are not employed at payout. So whether you quit or are fired/ you lose out on two full months of commission. This is also illegal because you must be paid earned commission.

* Lots of self developments * Great if you want to learn boundaries, sales, multi-tasking, etc. * They used to have great sales training - my advice is to reach out to top sales people or join independent masterminds.
Desventajas
* High stress environment * Very little downtime * Generally Low Pay

Grandfathered into a pension is the only reason to stay. Not worth it anymore though, there's better jobs out there.
Desventajas
1. Insane caseload. People in injury are quitting left and right because they can't keep up with the workload. It's normal to have 500 claims per person in injury but other departments, like casualty and SIU get capped out at 150 claims per person. Not only is that not fair but all these jobs pay the same so why are injury claim handlers getting screwed? 2. This company favors external new hires over people who've been with the company for years and have experience. I didn't get a $1,500 bonus but you best believe the new hires got it. Their background is working at McDonald's yet I've worked in insurance five years... 3. Metrics. Need I say more? Your manager will micromanage you all day because they literally don't do anything else. They are glorified babysitters. Well-paid babysitters considering the work they actually do. 4. Mandatory overtime. My last department I worked in was mandatory overtime for two years straight. At some point you would think management would hire more people. 4. Underpaid. My friend gets paid a LOT more than me and when I told my friend what I do for work they responded "that's crazy, I get paid so much more than you and my job is so much easier, your job doesn't sound like it's worth the stress for how little you get paid". My friend's job isn't hiring, I already asked because I'm ready to jump ship.
