I applied through StackOverflow, and the hiring process went from May 2017 - June 2017.

The first round was a 9-hour technical screening. Judging by the other interview reviews for this company, this was the same problem other candidates had. The requirements of the solution are stated very clearly in the problem statement. The solution shouldn't take more than 30 lines of code, and you shouldn't need to write conditions upon conditions for every corner case. You should test every corner case, yes, but a passing solution should handle them elegantly.

The second and third rounds were Skype interviews with screensharing. You are permitted to use a text editor but not a compiler or debugger. I cannot share any details about the nature of the interview itself, but it seems like it uses the same problems as what other people have reported. You should be comfortable with writing a function that is mathematically rigorous, efficient, and elegant. Be prepared to "prove" that your program does what you want it to do. Treat the interview like a CS exam and take your time with finding the perfect solution!

I was rejected after the third interview. HR told me that they could not disclose why my submission did not satisfy their expectations, but I was able to e-mail the interviewer and receive an explanation for one of the shortcomings of my solution. I understand that think-cell has high standards for code quality, but it would help to be more forgiving and less opaque with reviewing candidates' submissions.

The first step was a timed online test to write a certain data structure, not a very typical one. Not a rocket science, but it required some careful testing. Looks like I did OK. Then I had a phone interview where I was asked to implement a certain algorithm. This part was far from perfect, it felts like the interviewer was out of time and put me on hold a couple of times asking to email him when I have an updated solution - which was very different from the usual process where you first implement a basic solution, and then asked to accommodate more specific requirements.

If you are preparing for an interview there, you might want to warm up by implementing some textbook or STL data structures and algorithms from scratch.

It is an online programming task in C++ 14. However, the details are not allowed to be published.

I have made many similar programming task before in other job applications. I succeed with some and failed in the other. However, this one was really interesting. Actually, the most interesting one at all by far.

Although I did not pass, I was happy to test my abilities in such very elegant way. I would definitely consider re-applying again when I feel confident about my abilities to be part of this team. An environment where the first screening test that looks like the one I did is an every engineer dream!

It was my first time applying for a Germany based company. I understand now why "Made in Germany" make any product much brighter!

There're 3 phases in the interview, they are take-home assignment, Skype interview and on-site interview.
The take-home assignment asks you to implement a class method that has something to do with std::map.
it isn't extremely difficult however there're corner cases you need to handle carefully.
Both the correctness and the performance of your code will be evaluated.

I didn't pass the first phase, for reason I don't really know(they didn't say).

I got a programming question per Email and I have 6 hours to finish it. The question is mild difficult, and the key point is that you need to design test cases and write down an efficient algorithm. I did not pass the test and I got an email feedback which gave me several hints where I could do wrong.
