If you were asked to unload a 747 full of jelly beans, what would you do?

61 respuestas

Assuming they are loose jellybeans, and their unloading needs to be managed rather than just dumped on the tarmac ... Start by phoning the people at the other end, of the process. They managed to load an entire plane with jellybeans! Any group that can figure out how to fill a plane with jellybeans may be a big help in undoing this mess. Menos

Put an ad on craigslist "Free jellybeans - won't last. Hurry!". They'll all be gone in no time. Menos

I would do it. The question is not "how" you would do it.

Why are pot hole covers round and not square?

10 respuestas

It makes sense to make them round because they can not fall through if ever accidentally uncovered. If squeare => the lid falls in diagonally. Menos

So that if someone mistakenly drops it in on its side it won't fall into the hole. A square cover dropped mistakenly diagonally on its side would fall in. Menos

Its because the round shape causes the impact of cars and trucks to be distributed evenly. If it was square, the impact would be highest at the corners causing the cover to break. Menos

1 million card applications. $1 per application cost to do employment verification. 96% pass verification and get a card. 4% fail and do not get cards. Given average profits on cardholders in good standing, and average losses on accounts that default, find the % of denied cardholders that would have to default in order to justify the $1 per application verification cost .

8 respuestas

Anymore info given? I think you'd either need to know the percentage of cardholders in good standing, or the percentage of cardholders in bad standing. Menos

This appears to be a trick question that makes you think they want to know the break-even point. However: how can someone default on a credit card that they were "denied" and never issued? Menos

I had the same case and you can ask for more info like percent in good standing etc. Menos

How many unique handshakes if each person in a group of 10 give handshakes out to each and every other individual. (a) 100 (b) 50 (c) 45 (d) 20 (e) 10

6 respuestas

true, or 9+8+7+...+2+1

None of those answers are correct. The follow-up question should be are we assuming that each person is only using 1 hand? For example, if everyone is only giving handshakes left to left, or left to right or right to right or right to left? Granted left to right and right to left would be awkward. Menos

45. Imagine it as a polygon of side 10. Or draw out triangle, square, pentagon, and see the pattern yourself, if you don't know the algorithm. Menos

Are you willing to work 80 hours a week?

6 respuestas

I just got hired there as a bra, easily willing to work the 80 hours. Never saw a company that treats you with so much respect and trust right out of the gate. Also spend a lot of money per employee in technology which most people don't know and don't care about. I know and appreciate it as even if a company has the money, most won't spend it. Deloitte realizes their people are their biggest asset. Menos

It depends on a person to person - if a resource is efficient and having skill to automate, the 16 hour work for a normal resource can be done in less than 8 hours ! Menos

No, I am not interested in working for a company that doesn't value life/work balance. Thank you for your time and good day. Menos

An analytical question about: Say you have ten stacks of coins with ten coins in each stack, each coin weighing 1g. However, one of the stacks has 2g coins instead of 1g coins. If you have a weighing scale and can only make one measurement, how do you determine which stack of coins weighs 2g each coin?

6 respuestas

It's simple. Take 1 coin from the first stack, 2 coins from the second, 3 from the thirds - you see where this is going - finally 10 from tenth stack. put them on weighing scale. If in result you get 56 - it was first stack, 57 - second.... 65 - tenth stack. Menos

1-If all the coins are made from the same material and same diameter, then the heavier coin stack should be slightly taller. 2- Weight all the stacks at once, and remove each stack until you see a dip in the tota weight . Menos

I didn't quite understand what you meant. So there are 10 coins, 9 weigh 1 gram, and one weighs 2 grams? The second sentence seems contradictory. If you can only make one measurement, then you would divide the stacks into two. Place each stack on either scale, and whichever one is heavier contains the 2g coin. Menos

A company has acquired many other companies resulting in multiple transaction and report generating systems and technologies within the main company resulting in a $10 million maintenance bill. As a consultant how would you integrate all the technologies and reduce the maintenance costs.

Tech interview frameworks are pretty simple as they are few in number. For this question I applied the implementation strategy framework which turned out to be right. But please do not jump to a conclusion right away. I had to ask many questions and I eventually managed to whittle down the problem to that of an effective and common data management solution where the interviewer offered me multiple choices and I decided to go with the ERP system. And then she asked me how I would go about installing it in multiple offices across the world and in a given time frame etc....It was pretty straightforward from that. The important takeaway is frameworks are important but do not be bound by them. And they do not look for a right or wrong answer from you, but instead study your thought process and your approach to problems you have no idea about...Hope this helped. Best of luck!! Menos

What other frameworks are there in tech interviews?

What framework did you use in this case? I'm pretty new to case interview, and feel the frameworks are mostly about profit or market. How to use them in tech case interview? Thank you!! Menos

Publicis Sapient

You get an hour to prepare for a case study - and delivering your ideas on a white board. After the hour is up - you present your case to a manager. The case study was not "difficult" but rather lengthy. I did not have enough time to finish everything I would have liked to. Be prepared to get your most valid points out before diving into the details - and read the entire case study before starting. Some important information lies at the end of the case study document.

in a short time presentation the base of the topic are most imprtent then it's whole explanation, and every topic is start from a small point i.e the mening of that presentation title. Menos
