Suppose you have three call options on the market, with strikes 10, 20, and 30. Suppose the call option with strike 10 costs $12, the call option with strike 20 costs $7, and the call option with strike 30 costs $1. Does there exist an arbitrage opportunity?

4 respuestas

My guess is since call price is a convex function of strike. By Jensen' inequality, the average of 10 call and 30 call should be greater than 20 call. Here 20 call is overpriced, so long 10 call and 30 call in the mean time short the 20 call. Menos

Yes. Buy one call option with strike 10 and one call option with strike 30, and sell two call options with strike 20. Then you can work out for yourselves that this always yields a positive profit. Menos

If you only short one of the strike 20 calls then it's wrong. You need to short 2 of the strike 20 calls to make it work. Menos

If you flip 400 coins, what's the probability of getting more than 220 heads

4 respuestas

Apply central limit theorem. Probability = 1-N(2)

Apply central limit theorem. Probability = 1-N(2) ~= 2.5%

It would be "Probability = 1 - binomcdf(400, .5, 220) = .0255520111564574"

Horse race: 25 horses, 5 lanes, find the minimum number of races to get the fastest 3 horses.

4 respuestas

7 races

7: 1. split 25 horses into groups of 5, race each group, get top 3 in each group (5 races), this gives us 15 potential candidates 2. race the winners of each of the 5 races (1 race), say this comes out H1, H2, H3, H4, H5; this will eliminate 3*2 + 3 = 9 of the 15 potential candidates, and we will also now know the fastest horse (H1) (the 3*2 eliminated candidates come from the horses top three horses in step 1 where H4 and H5 raced; the other 3 eliminated candidates come from the two horses that came in 2nd and 3rd in step 1 to H3 and the horse that came in 3rd to H2 in step 1). 3. race the remaining 5 horses Menos

5 + 3 + 2 + 1 +1 = 13.

4 respuestas

If its due to recession that is external causes. However there are a couple of approaches to take: 1. Analyse the industry to see if the other companies have sales revenue decrease 2. Advice the client to switch market segment or decrease prices. Menos

Where hire someone if you give away strategies for free? The VP of talent, literally has someone fill out what to put on her linkedin Profile. Seriously... A VP of Talent Donata Davenport doesn't know how to use linkedin and she is recruiting talent for a major company!? Donata Davenport later changed the title to HR specialist. That makes no sense for HR to do. Her methodology on business structures are poor. That is why they can't get their online job portal more candidates. Menos

I meant to say "Why" not "Where."

There're 10 steps ahead of rabbit and she can jump 1 step or 2 steps at a time. How many different ways for her to reach to the top.

3 respuestas

Basic Recurrance formula F(n) = F(n-1)+ F(n-2) . Expalation : Asume rabbit wants to climb the 10th step , it can either make the jump from 9th step or from 8th step . F(1) = 1 - can take only 1 step F(2) = 2 - can take 2 single steps or just take a 2 step jump . so 2 ways . Solving this recurrence relation should give the result . Time O(n) & Space O(1) Menos

its the Fibonacci algorithm.

At most, you take 10 steps. At minimum, you take 5 steps. How many ways are there to take 5 steps? 6 steps? 7 steps? and so on. Menos

Imagine Facebook and a bank merged, giving them access to each other's data. What would you want to do with the data? How would you do it? At a very high level, how would you approach merging the data sets?

3 respuestas

Use the data to understand how to target different customers, both for the bank and Facebook. Psychographic data, credit card history, financial credit scores, geolocation, demographics, messaging histories. Target Ads to different groups, understand how to drive more business in mortgages and loans, extract their networks and target relationships, figure out where to open new bank branches and how best to position on your digital channels.
