I have changed jobs a few times and I have had my fair share of interviews. This is definitely the worst experience I’ve ever had. I applied in January for an Investment Manger position. I went through 4 interviews – two with an external HR company and two with Veolia’s HRs and managers. I completed two tests. And after that…silence. I didn’t hear from them for one month but they eventually offered me the job in April.
However, the compensation definitely did not reflect the stress and responsibility of the position. I tried negotiating but after another month of complete silence, they told me that they are not flexible on the compensation at all. I ended up accepting the position nevertheless because I though the professional experience would be great. Veolia’s HR sounded happy about it and told me to expect to sign the required documents soon. Good, right? Nope.
In July, two months after I officially accepted the position, the external HR company told me that Veolia would not open that position after all and that I would not get hired.
I find Veolia’s behavior absolutely disrespectful and unprofessional. They have wasted a significant amount of my time. I had other great opportunities but I passed on them because I thought I had a sure thing and that I was just dealing with a highly bureaucratic structure that is very slow. I consider myself a really good professional and I know I did not deserve such treatment – the extensive interview process, the waiting, some serious gashlighting in conversations with Veolia's HR department, the ghosting, if you will, and eventually the dumping.
And you, if you are thinking about joining Veolia – please, don’t! There’s a high chance that you will get treated badly and that Veolia will waste your time. We can all do better than this 😉
