I found the job listing online. I immediately was contacted for an interview which i passed. Then i was given a job and salary offer. Normally that means you have the job, correct? Wrong, they force you to do 6 hours of training take a quiz. And then two separate mock classes that equal to 2 hours before they tell you if you "officially" have the job or not. The mock classes are a fun easy breeze and all the instructions are included for you. I had positive energy, smiled and had no doubt I would get through the mock classes since I have been doing it already for 7 years in a tutoring and classroom environment. Too bad I had the bad luck of 2 angry power tripping mock teachers who found problems with just about everything I said and did. Mock class teacher 1: He did not go by the prep material provided in the portal. He gave me random instructions on the spot. And when I would try to explain the information asked of me at the bottom of the slide. He accused me of too much "incidental talking" that the learner may not understand. He said that I could cater the lesson to the student and not necessarily had to complete every single thing listed in the instructions. On top of that the teacher had a huge list of criticisms both in writing and verbally that I felt were overwhelming and disheartening. Mock class teacher 2: He was supposed to be an 8 year old advanced student, yet would often answer me with one or two word responses even when I prompted him to speak in complete sentences over and over again. I prompted him to talk a lot so that I would reach the 70/30 teacher student talk time goal. Yet he still made the criticism of me not following that rubric, when in actuality he was uncooperative. For example I asked him to repeat something and his response was, "i already said that can you not hear me" in a harsh manner. Making me feel like asking him anything was bothering him. Of course with those people in charge I didn't get the job. I'm relieved because the company wants way to much from a mere human being.
