Brief phone interview that went over job requirements. A very basic screening of my qualifications. Interviewed next with hiring manager and all went well. Went into my past experience and salary requirements. Said I was very qualified but current salary was outside of their budget and they had no ability to negotiate for higher salary. Unsure why that was not covered in phone interview so as not to waste my time or the interviewer
