I was not looking for a change but was approached via Linkedin by their HR and presented with a DevOps position in Zurich or full-remote with an exciting company involved in: cloud only operations, Kubernetes, Docker, Ansible, GO / Java with strong emphasis on full-remote position and pairing with IOS (2 FTE) & Android (2 FTE) developers in Agile manner.
Advertised as:
* full-cloud company (AWS)
* Docker/Kubernetes/kops
* Ansible
* running GO/Java apps
* Couchbase/Cassandra/Postgresql/Kafka
Sounded interesting regarding technology stack and structured way of working (as presented) so they scheduled me for a discussion a manager.
Discussion went well but started to have doubts as kept on presenting the position as SRE with on-call rotation and local in Zurich.
After the discussion I received and assignment of tangential things I was expected to work with and presented as a 2-3h task (not even close to reality considering the requirements and full documentation requested).
Completed the task and sent to HR (as requested); after one day received an email that I passed and we can move on to present my assignment.
Expected to present my task and discuss it but was asked questions about totally different subjects: Linux IO matters, system calls, CISCO networking (strange in a full-cloud company where you don't even access the networking layer in full), sym/asym encryption, Python (when they use GO and Java).
No real issue as everyone has the right to design their interviews and recruit process accordingly but the topics I was facing were not even close to my last years of work experience that was clearly stated on my profile.
Overall: not a very good experience as HR/Recruiting presented something & received an assignment on the topic but manager was expecting a different skill set than advertised; I wasted time in 3 calls, a lot of e-mail ping-pong and a Saturday for the assignment for something totally different that what I was advertised.

I applied online for a remote position, sent them a description of my Android work with some samples. They respond back in a week with a timed challenge of a relatively easy question and a simple looking but very hard HackerRank math problem that really has nothing to do with algorithms or programming (or maybe I wasn't smart enough to see it in that time). HackerRank is lousy environment to write code under pressure and I wasn't sure if you can use an IDE. Also, the problem description wasn't 100% clear to me about the final requirement and there is no one to ask. I don't think the problems are written by Centralway.
I was rejected because others did better on the challenge, I didn't pass all the tests for the challenge(passed some, others timed out, they don't even mention coding for performance). I honestly don't care if people do well in HackerRank or not, I know my past history of successful projects for Fortune 10 companies. End users won't care either.
For the 90 minutes I wasted I could have been asked to implement a simple database app in Android from scratch, using async, Rx, or whatever, which is what I believe I would be doing. They could have asked even to implement some practical algo in the app. From there they could have looked at my coding style, UI layout, tests, etc. I know how to implement and meet deadlines for business/data type apps. If they weren't happy, that would be fine with me.
I did that problem first and I was so flustered that the second problem, albeit easy, probably took me a bit longer to do. The second problem requires you to deal with an output file, and HackerRank does not allow you to see the output of the file. I had some extra characters vs my debug output and wasted time on that. Why not just code Android apps with notepad.
Now, I'm grown up enough to know it is their company and they can do what they want, but if you are considering Centralway don't waste your time on this unless you are very good at the "hard" HackerRank brain twisters. Maybe this review is doing Centralway a service so they can get candidates that they want.
A company I worked for in the past tried those IQ games to hire developers, we ended up with cubes of smart guys but lots of forever open JIRA issues and angry customers. Then I came in and got a working product onto users PCs. All their candidate interviews now are similar to what I described.
My last client hired someone after me from a top 3% place, after my website took 4 months to do, delivered two weeks early, then I moved on. He emails me all the time to come back because it is going on a year now and it is still not done. I would go back but I want to do Android. I also take my hat off to the guys that did well on the challenge, but there is more to bringing a deliverable than a brain teaser, unless the job involves that.
The more I take these interviews the more I want to just go off and create my own apps or hire others. Maybe that is a good thing.

There was first a skype interview with a very nice HR guy. He introduced himself, I introduced myself, he explained about company product and values, and then he asked some questions. Then we scheduled a skype code session for next week. However, nobody showed up for the meeting. HR apologized and explained that the interviewer was in a meeting that took longer than expected.

The entire process was online, with communication on email and Skype.
I applied in the beginning of June, and I was given a test on HackerRank to complete. I only heard back from them in July, when they asked me if I was still interested. Then they gave me a small task to complete (a backend app with some webservices) for "MeetCentralway" step. I was given the task 3 days prior to the actual presentation, but was asked to send solution 24 hours before, as Engineer needed time to study it before presentation. Of course, this part was not so clear, so I sent it when I was done (computer problems, personal issues etc.), 12 hours before. The problem was so simple, 1 hours was needed at most for analysis of the solution. The interview ended before it started, as they failed to contact me for 20 mins from the set hour, and then I was blamed as "not online", even if I was staring at the screen for 20 minutes. I was informed that I failed the first task (send solution 24 hours in advance), and the engineer didn't like my solution (I didn't have time to implement JUnit tests), as they were expecting a "very good solution". And that was about it, I am still waiting for a real feedback from them.

Time waste. No feedback provided after writing efficient solution on medium DP HackerRank problem. "Offered" to answer questions without providing contact details from no-reply address. Thanks to Glassdoor I know I won't be missing much. Simply appalling.

Receive a HackerRank test link.
They say that the test may be around 90 minutes. Made the test flawless.. in 20 minutes.
Never heard back. Now i understand the bad comments about this company.
An SRE test, that is lame like that.. and a HR that does not even reply.
In any case after apply.. i read all the company commentary, i wasn't going to accept any offer from this people anyways.
Anyways i always enjoy those HackerRank tests, there you can know if you are more smart then the one elaborating the test .. hahaha
Just don't waste your time, look for a serious company and not for hungry dogs like this.

The interview involved a series of online screening interviews. That was followed by a full day in the office working on a specific build/deploy problem. There was also lunch with the team, talking to key members of the management, etc.

I applied for the SRE role and was contacted by there recruiter for a preliminary chat. The recruiter then arranged an hour phone screen with their Head of IT and Operations. This interview was conducted via Skype.
The interview covered projects on my resume, technical questions, security topic and my SRE experience.
The interview went well and I was again contacted by the recruiter telling me "good new" that Centralway would like to move forward and bring me on site to Zurich for a day . As I live in the United States I was asked to provide some potential dates for travel to Switzerland which I promptly did.
What happened next is truly bizarre. The recruiter emails me back and says Centralway will pay for my airfare but would not be paying for my hotel or any accommodation expenses. As someone with 15 years of experience in the tech industry I can say that this is unheard of. The flight would be 8 hours and with a 6 hour time zone difference. It would be impossible for a candidate to have a good interview with spending a night there.
Thinking this was an extremely odd situation that I was being put in and suspecting this recruiter lacked experience or perhaps there was a language barrier(He was Italian,) I asked if there was someone else I might speak to about travel arrangements(usually companies have an expediter that handles logistics.)
The response to my question from the recruiter was "Well we will agree to put you up for a night in a hotel if you don't have to fly direct to Zurich and can take a flight with a layover." I responded that of courseI would have no problem with a flight that entailed a layover if it meant they would put me up a hotel.
A couple of days later I received an email from the same recruiter stating that my email asking if I could speak to someone else about travel logistics was "very inappropriate" and that the invitation was now being rescinded.
I have never experienced anything like it. I am guessing the company has no idea how bad and unprofessional their recruiters are or maybe they do and and just don't care.
I read a number of negative reviews before I interviewed with Centralway. People mention things like how they have a policy where employees can't keep stuff on their desks(you can see it in pictures.) My first thought was that this was just disgruntled employees but I now realize that there is something really off and pathological about this company.

There were 5 Skype interviews. First with the HR guy, then with head of technology, COO and 2 peers. Each of them took 1 hour. After each of the interview positive feedback was provided. Questions on the interview were general and not complicated if you are working with what is aksed on daily basis. Question from my side, whether company is startup or enterprise, caused me to listen 5 minute monologue from COO how mature and stable they are and in any circumstance they are not considered startup anymore.
Everything went very smoothly and shortly after final Skype interview Centralway asked me to travel to Zurich to spend whole day with them on-site. Centralway paid for the airplane tickets and I had to book hotel by myself. Povided agenda was clear and interesting.
2 days prior to the flight, urgent Skype call was cheduled and HR told, that they internally have reviewed job role. New job role have broadened responsibilities and now they are looking for different candidate profile. But no problem, they offer hands-on job to me instead of manager position (Really? You must be joking) I've told, that lower level accepted would be IT architect, as this is what I was doing for last years. No problem! They quickly sent excerpt from same hands-on job role description, how architectual thinking would fit in this job. In reality that looked like someone searched on word "architect" through the document and copy-pasted what he or she have found. To get final pros or cons, I've requested information about possible salary and found it unsuitable to quit my current job and move to Zurich.
In overall first impression was very good, but it was later completely devastated from Centralway side with their hands-on job offer.
Hint to Centralway:
1. Don't call yourself enterprise if you behave like a young unmature startup.
2. If you provided "replacement" job role for candidate, please take care and at least define exact job role description.
