Entrevista

Slow and unresponsive. First interview with HR representative. Then three more interviews with the Staff at the Berkley Center for Entrepreneurship, no more than 30 minutes. Another check in with HR after those 3 conversations. Everything seemed normal during that 3 week period, but then there was basically silence for 2.5 months. One follow up response was "we'll get back to you soon" and never heard back from that person. Other people just never answered. After 2 months I finally heard there was an unexpected pause (thanks for letting me know). And then finally I get a generic email response from an unknown NYU email saying I was not selected. I think my first conversation for this job was mid-June and I got that last email mid-September. Such a poor representation of NYU and a center which represents entrepreneurship.

HR emailed, and then reach out, first round interview with too many people, they ask a wide spectrum of questions but all relevant. very friendly zoom interview. But they have internal applicants too. In this case, they will give the position to internal. Waste of time.

Different units within the university have different HR points of contact, FYI, so this might not be indicative of the entire university... but for anonymity's sake, I won't name the specific division. I applied to this role about a month before receiving a request to interview from HR. The initial phone screen with HR was very standard - nothing unexpected or out of the ordinary. From there, things got a bit weird. I was invited to move on to the next round (a Zoom call with the hiring manager) but was told that they wanted to move quickly, so they asked for my availability that same week. I told them I couldn't do that and needed to push it to the following week. They agreed and the call was also one that was pretty expected - nothing out of the ordinary. The HM mentioned that that was the first of three rounds with the team not counting the HR rep. After that way, I was invited to move on to the third round, but they again pressed that they wanted to do it that same week - within days of the original - and that it would include a presentation. I pushed back to try and delay to the following week so that I had time to prepare but they pushed back, as well, and we ended up doing it on Friday (the previous round was on that Monday). After the panel interview/presentation, HR scheduled a follow up call in which I asked what the third round would entail. They were confused, so I explained what the HM had said. She said that she would get back to me with clarification but never did. I followed up a week later and didn't receive a reply, so I followed up again the following week and was told after a few more days that they had decided to promote someone internally. It seemed a bit weird to me that HR and the hiring team didn't appear to be on the same page about what the process entailed...

Entrevista

Phone interview, follow up Skype interview. Communication was always prompt and cordial. I was contacted about one week after the second interview to be told they'd gone in another direction, but they also suggested I apply for another, similar position at the same school.

3 interviews, final interview took an entire day. None of the interviewers were technical so they really didn't know what to ask. Note this was obviously for a technical position.

Entrevista

I applied online and was offered the position about 2 weeks after the interview. Pretty straight forward, simple process. Everyone has to apply online since searches are managed through human resources. NYU also accepts employee referrals.

Entrevista

The process took about 3 months from first interview to job offer. I met with same person twice and then finally had my interview with HR. I believe people usually interview with HR as part of screening process, but my interview process was done in reverse and meeting with HR person felt like just a technicality.
