The first red flag was the initial email from the head of marketing asking for a a massive public relations campaign / assessment, basically free work before a phone interview. This seems common here and even the largest corporations don't ask this bc it's absurd. Regardless, I proceeded and did 2 Skype interviews only to be turned down but my work was praised. Odd how we never reviewed my work. In my opinion, I'd stay away since they don't value people's time. Very negative experience .

About a week after applying for the role I got an email from HR asking if I could come down in my salary requirements by 20% - which was fine. After I agreed to that and before any screener interview was conducted I was assigned an assessment. The assessment - which I didn't mind at first - turned out to be building out a full content calendar inclusive of writing an entire blog post for the next month and a half (oh and they wanted it completed within 24 hours!). Had I already had a phone interview I don't think the assessment would have bothered me so much but it gave me a bad vibe (as if I was supplementing the work for a role that was currently unfulfilled).

Applied online. A phone interview was set up and then canceled, and I was sent a skills test instead.

Expecting applicants to take time out of their lives to perform a skills test with no conversation and no information is absurd and indicates a company that does not consider the personal time of its employees as valuable, and a company that seems to have delusions of grandeur when it comes to its desirability as an employer. The top companies in the country - if not the world - don't expect applicants to perform free work assignments without ever having a conversation about the role - so why does this start-up in a notoriously high-failure vertical think they can do so?

I applied through glass door.

I pleasantly received a somewhat immediate reply from the CEO wanting to schedule a preliminary call to discuss the position.

when i replied to his email to set up the call within his scheduled parameters, that was the last i heard from the CEO and Marley Spoon. At this point i have to agree with the other interviewees. If this lack of response from the CEO, nonetheless, is indicative of the company culture, i absolutely would avoid this fiasco of company altogether.

Good luck Marley Spoon, in trying to overcome your competitors. At this point you are considered a start up, and judging by the example set by your CEO, you wont get past the start up phase.

I applied for 2 different jobs in Marely Spoon Berlin, first job was 2 round interviews I think they don't have HR team or recruiters, so it was 2 managers, after the second interview I didn't receive a feedback until I sent to ask, so they told me sorry we have proceeded with another candidate, so it was so disappointing and unprofessional. The second time I applied was the same process, skype call and then i was invited to the office and here was the most disappointing thing, it was scheduled to be interviewed by 2 people, 1st person half and hour and the other 1 hour but what happened that I stayed with the 1st person more than 1 hour because the other one wasn't available ! and they were searching for him, and then the 2nd person who stayed with me only half an hour instead of hour was so unprofessional in the interview because it was very clear he didn't like my answers and at the middle of the interview he shut his laptop strongly and he told me we are done ! so unprofessional even when I tried to clarify his questions his answers were so aggressively (why do you ask questions instead of answering!) although professionally it is better to confirm that you understood the question right! so I finished the interview and I was 100% they will not proceed with me. And the last thing when they sent me that they won't proceed with me, I sent them to ask for more detailed feedback but no one replied back

It's a video interview, and the interviewer is super friendly and nice.
At first, there are some general questions, going through the background and why company, why Berlin and so on.
Then, it's case analyzing question. Overall, it's a professional interview.

Very negative experience!

After a first reaction, suggested interest in me as a applicant and a supposedly transparent process, it became really disappointing.

When you aren't receiving answers via email after the hiring manager asked you for a answer, after the hiring manager doesn't follow the suggested appointments (suggested by the hiring manager herself) and even after the hiring manager was telling you that she will invite you to a second interview but wasn't sending you an invitation afterwards, I have to say that this dosn't seem to be a compoany I would like to work for.

I think a company should always be fair and transparent within his hiring process. It's alright when a applicant and the needs of the company aren't fitting, the sympathy or anything else is not working BUT to tell your applicant what you will do and don't realize your plans, is not professional.

This overall impression changed my positive opinion about Marley Spoon and should be optimized in the future.

I got contacted within a few hours of sending my application asking me for a time to speak. I replied immediately and did not hear back until the following week when I sent a second email asking if they had received my email. I then got an answer saying that my suggestions would not work due to time constraints and was asked about another suitable time frame. I replied with a new suggestion and I never head back.... I think it is highly unprofessional not to answer emails with candidates that you are actively engaging with. It should not be necessary for candidates to chase the interviewers more than once to have a confirmation. Definitely never applying for such an unprofessional company again.
