      Entrevista

I recently had an interview for a position at KAMO. For me, the itentiary went like this: first, HR goes over the benefits package. Then they have you take a written personalty test, then fill out various forms for background checks and other typical stuff. This first part usually takes about 30 mins. Then you meet with the supervisor that you would be working under as well as possibly the supervisor's boss. This part could last as long as a few hours. In my experience, the questions were pretty easy. They didn't ask any trick questions or ask you to solve any puzzles or anything. They basically ask you to go over your resume and any relevant experience. They also asked me about my likes/dislikes regarding my current boss and employer. Otherwise, the vast majority of the time is for you to ask questions of them. It was pretty laid back and KAMO was pretty receptive to answering any questions that I had. I was never offered any compensation for my travel time to the interview nor time taken off of my current job. HR will be there for every conversation that you have. My guess is that they don't want the supervisors to ask any illegal questions. Be aware of these things regarding the job: 1. You better not ever get sick as there is no official sick policy per-say. If you can't get to work because of being sick, you have to use vacation time. However, if you are sick more than 4 days in a row, there is some sort of banked time that you can use after those 4 days. But, each time you are sick, it resets itself. Those 4 days in a row must be on the same sickness. So if you're sick for 3 days this month and 3 days next month, you are out 6 days of vacation. That really sucks. KAMO says that they used to offer sick days, but the policy was abused so they did away with it. 2. The vacation time accumulates on a monthly basis. For instance, if you are allocated x number of weeks of vacation per year, it accumulates at x hours a month for 12 months. So if you plan to take some vacation time in the early part of the year, you better save some vacation time from the previous year or you may not have enough. But you also better save some vacation days for flu/cold season too incase you get sick. 3. There is no inclement weather days either. Northeastern Oklahoma tends to get quite a bit of snow/sleet/ice in the winter, especially the last few years. KAMO brags that they haven't taken a day off due to weather in about 15 years. I can only imagine that it would be nightmare to travel on I-44 and downtown Vinita in 8+ inches of snow/ice. So you better save up some vacation time for inclement weather too unless you want to risk your life to get to work. 4. However, I did get mixed messages regarding making up missed time, "within reason"-whatever that means. It seemed like they kinda offered it, but was reluctant to. Also, KAMO has a small shuttle bus for the employees that goes from Claremore to Vinita back to Claremore. KAMO pays the bill for it and is driven by employees. But when I interviewed, the bus was full already and the supervisor indicated that my schedule may not match the bus schedule. So it was basically a non-factor for me. 5. In spite of HR may say or indicate, if you do get a job offer, consider it KAMO's final offer. If you decide to decline it, they will move on and not come back to you with another offer. Even if you are the ideal candidate, KAMO has no other candidates and they have to wait forever for someone else to come along. They are done with you. 6. I think that their salary, atleast in my case, was competive for the field that I was in. However, the salary is in no way competitive considering that the job location was, in my case, in Vinita, Ok. If you are not familiar with Vinita, Ok and the surrounding area and you are interested in a job at KAMO, you owe it to yourself to travel there.
