I neither declined nor accepted the offer, as I have not heard back from USPTO. Hope to go back into the review and change that setting on the post. I understand the 10 week cycle and the expectation of getting back to candidates within two weeks, but I was specifically told otherwise for this round. And I would accept this job if I'm selected.

it takes a while for them to reach out to references and process paperwork. mid jan seems late if starting date is feb 6. because they give one week for selected people to respond and another week to send in paperwork. basically applicants would be starting before any paperworks gets processed. people that interview do not know when selections happen as they are not part of it. so maybe theyre confused. but it could be either or

in the past they were able to get back to people after two weeks which is still before the holidays

I intereviewd on November 30, they should be getting back to me on wednesday if they follow 2 week process will update everyone then, mech engineer dallas

^it might take till friday if they follow the two week plan just a heads up. because some people interviewed that thursday as well.

Since Dallas is hearing back this week, I feel like everyone will hear back before break. the alexandria applications were due 3 weeks before the dallas ones. so alexandria should hear back next week

i spoke to mechE and ChemE HR representative whole told me two weeks from interview date this month

I had my interview on 12/7 for cmpe. Dude made me feel relaxed and went for what seemed like 5 to 8 minutes after the interview talking about what uspto and pay scale and how people have rose up the ranks. I thought that was interesting. He also said I would know in mid January, not in 2 weeks.

That's interesting, maybe the different TCs will send out selections at different times. To the CompE guy, did interviewer tell you it would be a Feb 6 start?

Hmm...so it looks like my interviewer might have been right and Comp. Es will wait til next month.

There is a possible hiring freeze coming up with the new administration, which is why they accelerated the hiring for the Feb academy slot. Nobody knows what's happening with the incoming administration, but I think it's fair to think that hiring could be interrupted for a bit if you're not hired before inauguration.

Got my 'referred, not selected' email for Comp E, Alexandria today, 12/29. So does this mean this is the end of the road for me, or will I be in a pool for the next round of selections? Can anyone advise, should I reapply with the next announcement? And is there benefit to applying for more than one area (example: Comp E and EE) or is your resume just in the pool for whatever you might align with? So I didn't get this job, but I want to be smarter next time around, so anyone more experienced with USPTO opportunities, please advise! It does sound like a cool opportunity.

Everyone who was made an offer should read an article in the WaPo today about the upcoming hiring freeze and how it can affect you even if you were extended an offer.

whoops and final thing, is that the HR rep sends you this link, that has the Federal Employee contract and you are expected to sign and send it the next day. No info on pay or when training is. For everyone to compare themselves i worked as a mechanical design engineer, but graduated in May. Will post if my job status on usajobs changes!

thats kinda weird that you sign the next day with no information given. i mean an offer is an offer and i would take it. but those with multiple offers only have one day to respond

I think since it is tentatice it is fine, because this contract just has things like you didn't commit felonies, you are citizen etc. Then I believe I will get my final offer, iin which case I have to accept or not from there.

The others have not heard back because theyre waiting for people to decline the initial offer. if they do then they have room to take people from the back up list. thats why we haven't heard back yet. or they could be slow. but its either or. I want the alexandria offer over the dallas but ill take either

chemical has the least number of hiring. its really hard to break through into to chemical. for those that do congrats

Update: Got call from HR today confirming she got my signed federal contract, She the proceeded to give me the offer, and whether I accept it or not. I said yes, she then gave me salary, start date for training in dallas, promotion structure and I would be 1 year probation for training, she also said she would need my official transcripts from my college and she would email me all this stuff. Looks like I am getting finalized, good luck to everyone else! I hope you guys get it too!

How long did it take them to send you the 306 after you received the selection email? I was "selected" last round only to find there was a glitch in their system and they sent me the wrong email. I hope they fixed the glitch this time around :)

I don't get really understand the selection process used. I've applied to the same position multiple times. I was interviewed the first time and haven't been interviewed since. I've been referred/not selected each time. It's quite disheartening.

I work in another fed agency and the pay is very low compared to USPTO. I am a software developer. I got slected for USPTO for EE. I am not sure how is the work in USPto. Though it has good money, ppl say thework is very stressful. is that true?
