      I cold applied once and got denied the next morning through an automated message at 7 AM. I waited a couple weeks but then went back and applied with a referral from a friend that went through the apprenticeship and is now permanently there. I then received an email from a recruiter asking me to complete an assessment with no time limit. According to my contact that works there, they really are not worried about time. In total, it took me almost a month to get it done and sent in and the next day I received two emails saying they want me to move to the next step in the hiring process which is a 1 hour technical interview. According to some email attachments, they say you can expect questions about the take home exercise you completed, as well as your work history and background. So I have a week to prepare for that. I hope I can edit and update this with my experience in this second round.

      I applied online and was immediately given a take home assignment. I did well enough to get to the technical screening which was an hour long zoom call where we went over the assignment. Rejected after that. They are looking for candidates who are well beyond the level of Apprentice. It's a junior position in disguise so that they don't have to give you health insurance.

      In the interview they asked what were some areas of the assignment that could have been expanded on or improved upon if time wasn't an issue. I mentioned a few things like test coverage, CI/CD, etc. Their feedback in the rejection letter was "If the candidate was aware of these shortcomings, they should have been implemented from the get go."
