I applied online for the Benefits Specialist position I saw on Indeed, about four days later later I received an email and a call to schedule a phone screen in which I was very excited because I read about Equifax and with my background and education I felt really positive this would be a great opportunity for me. The day of the phone screen arrived, and the gentleman began asking tons of questions and honestly the first five or six questions are typically the questions that are asked on your application, so he asks basic questions like "Will I need sponsorship now or in the future, then he asks me what my current salary is at my job now?? What are my salary requirements? How much vacation time do I get at my current company? I didn't feel like he was serious about the phone screen at that point, I felt like I was taking a survey, the phone screen was only maybe 15 minutes then at the very end he decides to ask " Tell me a situation where I had to escalate a problem? Almost like he felt like he needed to throw that question in to make it seem legit. I have had numerous phone screens in my life and that was the strangest and no one has asked me in a phone screen how many vacation days do I have at my current job, I really didn't feel too comfortable nor positive with Equifax after that, and the guy tells me I would hear back within a week of course I haven't , no surprise there.

Have I ever applied or worked at Equifax? What is my current salary at my company? How many vacation days do I get a year at my current job? Give an example of when I had to escalate a problem.

I applied on line when I saw this position on the indeed website. I was pleasantly surprised to hear from a recruiter just a few days after applying who wanted to arrange for a phone screen interview that would last about 15 min. I spoke with a very nice gentleman that asked a series of questions about my experience and work history. He then ended the screen interview by asking the question about handling a difficult situation, I must have done well because just a couple a days later I received an email asking for my availability to do interview #2 with the hiring manager! Fingers crossed I hope I will be able to say I work for Equifax in the very near future!
