      Entrevista de Principal Financial Analyst

      16 dic 2011
      Candidato de entrevista anónimo
      Sin oferta
      Experiencia neutra
      Entrevista normal

      Solicitud

Solicité el puesto a través de un captador. El proceso duró 4 semanas. Acudí a una entrevista en Capital One en dic 2011

      Entrevista

2 case + 2 behavioral interviews. Cases: 1) Capital One partnering with a university to launch a credit card - revenue and cost drivers - profitability of CC given certain parameters - if university decides to exercise an option to purchase CC, at what amount will it be indifferent to staying with Capital One or running its own program? - what is the maximum amount that Capital One should pay the university for it to stay with program 2) profitability of existing CC customers - how might decreasing the credit limit increase profitability? - calculate profitability given various conditions (funding cost, default rate, APR, credit limit, average balance etc) under old and new credit limit - how might customer behavior change in response to a decrease in credit limit? - break-even rate and $ amount for charge-off with both new credit limit and average balance - graph showing the points of indifference using break-even points determined above Overall, a good experience, but be aware that there is little room for error.

      Preguntas de entrevista [1]

      Pregunta 1

Be sure to understand all revenue and cost drivers in detail and how they affect profitability, e.g. decreasing credit limit actually decreases charge-offs.

Must answer 2 case studies and 2 behavioral type interviews. Met with 4 different people. You stay in a small room and they come to you. After all the interviews you go to lunch with someone on the team and if you pass then you get a final interview with the hiring mgr.

      1) Starts with a two part online assessment with a mathematical analysis on a small business case, not timed but they want you to finish as quick as you can. Followed up by a questionnaire assessing your cultural fit. 2) Phone screening with a recruiter where you go over the basics: Experience, why CapOne, salary expectations, etc. 3) “Power Day” with two behavioral interviews and 2 case studies that will last 4 hours. They outline what to expect for both. Behavioral was STAR format and case studies were about P&L/Break-Even and Interest Rates where you have to think out loud through your thought processes. 4) Final stage is really a formality where you would have a quick convo with the potential hiring manager. Overall, it’s a long, cumbersome process and it’ll really make you evaluate whether you want to be apart of CapOne(not in a bad way).

Phone screen with recruiter, make sure you qualify for the position. Then "Power Day" - 2 behavioral interviews and 2 case study interviews. The behavioral interviews are 45 minutes each and the case studies are an hour. I passed one case study, but not the other (started out well, but then struggled halfway through). Did not get an offer. Afterwards, the recruiter told me in so many words that I did not pass one of the cases so that's basically why I didn't get the job. So the case studies seem to have more weight than the behaviorals.
