      Entrevista

The first interview is a great experience overall. I have been asking clarifying questions and the interviewer always gives me exact answers. Following his instructions, I have completed two versions of Rate Limiter. The second interview is disastrous. The interviewer can barely speak a complete sentence when I ask him to clarify things. I double check triple checked with him, and all the questions end up being answered by simply a “yes” or a “no”. The question is trivial, ranking letters by multiple votes, a simple sorting algorithm. I asked for a tie-breaking strategy, he said no need to consider that. I then asked how do we calculate the points, if that starts with the vote arrays’ length in descending order. He said yes. Yet after I complete the code, he said no, the score should always start at 3, no matter how long the vote array is, and made me write a hard code magic number 3 in the code. This is totally a code smell isn’t it? And then he said, let’s now consider breaking ties, and give me two strategies. But these two strategies only describe the first place. I asked him, what about the rest of the letters? He said I don’t need to consider that case. I did what he requested, and he ask why I am outputting an array. Sorting an array by ranks is supposed to return an array, isn’t it? He then said, no, I only want the first place. After I completed the code as he requested again. He asks me if I can optimize it. I told him about if he only need the first place, we don’t need to sort. Just have one variable to keep track of the first place, the complexity will be O(n) compare to sorting which is O(nlogn). He said, no, I want you to sort it. Finally, he ask me to do some code change from letters.sort(comparatorFn) to Object.entries(ranks).sort(comparatorFn).map(([letter, rank]) => letter) which makes no sense at all. It is neither efficient nor clean.

I passed six levels of interviews without a problem, but in the end, they said they closed the position. The technical and values interviews were complete nonsense. Anyone can pass with proper preparation. Especially the management and values interviews. But I was really frustrated because they said they closed the role one day after I passed all the interviews. A company that interviews you about values has no respect for you at all. I spent time, effort, and hope on this.

      - Screening standard pretty basic questions - Technical (coding) I and II interview is mid level leetcode question but they request an update after completing. They may cause a time problem. - System Design is mid level system design. But interviewer didn't understand the technologies I use a bit. - Management and Values interview corporate nonsense. Search or ask AI example questions and create stories if don't have. They are asking question like you have been encountered all types of dispute at previous jobs.

I am going to highlight some of my experiences below. I felt the interview process was designed to set one up to fail and a waste of my valuable time. Firstly pitting candidates through numerous coding tests under a tight time schedule is not the way to see through another human. While I conducted all the coding tests and completed the results successfully, I still did not pass through to the next round. During these tests, I was asked to hold the screen so that a screen capture could be taken. This was a red flag suggesting the interviewer was not following my thorough explanation of the solutions I was implementing. Especially that the language I was using was not known to them and more particularly that I was extremely careful to ensure I deliver each and every thought I was making deliberately. The process felt unprofessional and one way. I did not feel confident in the interviewer's skills especially with regards to communication and etiquette. Two other red flags I have is the lack of feedback the company can provide. If you can't provide genuine feedback to your candidates and are concerned of legal repercussions; then you must be hiding something! Also the fact that one has to perform another technical test with an external organization does not give me confidence in this organization. The recruiter initially presents a very bright picture of how good it is to work in this organization and are open to proper follow through however later this felt more like a carrot dangling tactic. After putting much effort to ensure successful delivery, I felt this was an unfair process despite trying to put my best human foot forward.

      Preguntas de entrevista [1]

      Pregunta 1

Questions typically asked were along the lines of: "Find a list of X to fit Y items in provided some other condition." (I don't want to give away too much). This is typical to a leet code question at medium difficulty.
