Phone interview followed by in person (30-60 mins). Phone interview was rather brief, but the in person interview was very professional and more intensive. Lots of questions asked and very conversational.
- What sorts of strategies could you bring to the table, or changes would you make to our current process?

Pretty easy, laidback and quick interview; Typical interview questions --no surprise questions. Cool and modern looking office; very pet friendly. Asked about goals and current insight in the field. Interview took a day and got a call back the next day
- What are your goals in three year?

Overall, the interview process was fairly standard. There was no preliminary phone screening; the first interview was in person. It went absolutely fine until we discussed salary. I was already making more than what this position offered at my previous job, and I could tell everything went out the window as soon as I proposed my ask. I would never hold it against a company for simply not having the funds to meet an candidate's ask, but I felt like the interviewer was rude about it. It came off like "Not only is that ask unattainable, but let me explain to you why you don't deserve it." Regardless, I am now making 40k higher than what this position pays at a different company...so I guess I do deserve it. I really don't mean to say anything disparaging about ABKCO as a whole, but don't expect a competitive salary.
- Can you walk me through your synch licensing experience as it relates to the needs of this role?

I applied online and received an email a week later requesting for an interview at a specific day and time. After another week I went to the office for the interview. The HR was very friendly and nice, but she didn't know the different types of work visa which doesn't make sense for a person in that position. After that, one of the VPs joined us and started asking many questions. He asked about the programming languages I know (not part of the requirements) and which one was the easiest because they were trying to start working with one but didn't know which one yet. He asked me about examples where I used the programming languages, Excel and Access. The first part of the interview looked like they were trying to get information out of my experience with different systems and programming languages to see what would work best for the company. He also asked about when I used my analytical skills before. I was asked how much I knew about the music industry and if it was my first option as an industry when looking for a job. When they finally gave me time to ask questions, I asked about how a day in the position would be like and if there were growth opportunities in this position/company. For the first question, they didn't know how to answer it clearly. They said that the position was always changing and that they were looking for someone who would work to change their system to a new one that would work better (this was not in the job description when I applied for this position). For the second question, it seemed like they were not expecting for that and he basically said that there was no growth opportunity. They said that the team was small and had a specific number of people and you could maybe change your position name in the future but there were no clear growth opportunities. After the VP was done asking me all of the questions he said good luck with what seemed like a sarcastic laugh and left the room. The HR stayed in the room with me for a couple more minutes and talked about how I should know more about the music industry and recommended a book for that. She asked me about the music I like to listen to. One of the last questions was about salary expectations and how I was paying my bills in the moment, which seemed very inappropriate and not related to a job interview. Overall, it was a negative experience and I left the interview not wanting to work for this company.
- How did you use your analytical skills in your past experiences?
- How did you use the programming languages you know and which one do you find the easiest?
- Where did you use Excel and Access?
- What do you know about the music industry?

The interview went fine, I just wish the woman was more prepared with some better interview questions. I really didn't know how to answer her questions because they were so open ended (which I understand) but it was clear she didn't even look at my resume.
- How good are you at excel

Met with one HR woman who was very nice and easy to talk to. Was asked back for a second interview where second HR woman joined and grilled me with questions way outside the requirements of the position and was very arrogant.
- What is the difference between a public performance right and a public performance license? etc.

Solid questions, took time to allow for a back and forth conversation. Three step interview process, met with HR, then with two VPs. Interview was located in a quiet, secluded office.
- Job experience, challenges
